• October 30, 2017: The Board of Supervisors approved a resolution to petition FERC and request a Rehearing on the FERC Order issuing a Certificate for the MVP Project based on the County's belief that FERC has not appropriately addressed the dangers construction of the pipeline may have on the environment of Montgomery County and on the quality of life of the citizens of Montgomery County impacted by the MVP Project.

• August 09, 2017: The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) responded and stated that the letter sent by the Board of Supervisors in June would become part of the official public comment record, ensuring that the information and concerns addressed would be given full consideration before the DEQ makes a final recommendation.

• June 14, 2017: The Board of Supervisors sent a letter in June to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), asking that the public comment period be extended and that the decision to use a blanket permit issued to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers instead of providing individual permits for each crossing in Montgomery County be reconsidered.

FERC held a scoping meeting with residents in Elliston on May 5. MVP held an open house to meet with landowners on Dec. 18, 2014, in Blacksburg.

The Board of Supervisors has held work sessions with pipeline officials on May 26, 2015, where they gave a project update, and on Nov. 5, 2014.

The Board of Supervisors has been actively involved in listening to citizen concerns and opposing the MVP's proposed route through Montgomery County. The Board previously passed a resolution on Nov. 12, 2014, opposing the proposed pipeline's route through Montgomery County. The Board of Supervisors also held a special meeting on June 15 to receive a legal briefing. On Oct. 13, the Board passed a resolution requesting the Governor to require DEQ oversight to protect surface and groundwater resources.

The Board also requested FERC to extend the deadline for receiving scoping comments as FERC prepares an environmental impact statement by an additional 90 days from June 16, 2015, to Sept. 16, 2015.

The DEQ responded to FERC's notice in the Federal Register.
