Montgomery County received two of the 16 Gold PRSA awards.

2023 PRSA Summit AwardsThe Blue Ridge Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) recently announced the 2023 Summit Awards winners. Montgomery County received two of the 16 Gold awards presented in the Campaign and Tactics divisions.

In the Campaign division, Montgomery County was awarded the Gold award for a Special Event longer than two days for the 2023 NRV Senior Games.

The weeklong New River Valley Senior Games were held at the end of April 2023. As the 2023 host, the Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Department was responsible for multiple aspects of the games, including registration and promotion of the event. The department hoped for an increase in participants, deeming 120 registered athletes a success. Upon collaborating with the Public Information Office to create a revamped logo and improved marketing strategies, the department exceeded its goal, and more than 150 participants played in the games.

In the Tactics division, Montgomery County was awarded the Gold award for a Shared Social Media Video for its 638 Days, An Adoption Story video

638 Days, An Adoption Story is a short social media video created by the Public Information Office about the adoption of Ice, a resident hound dog at the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center. The video went viral and even landed on Newsweek.com. After nearly two years of chillin’ at the center waiting for a caring human to take him home, Ice was adopted!
