2024 Board of Supervisors Chair, Vice Chair Selected

Mary Biggs was selected as Chair, and Steve Fijalkowski was selected as the Vice Chair.


On Jan. 8, 2024, which marked their first meeting of the year, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors selected who would serve as Chair and Vice Chair for the year. 

Mary Biggs was selected as Chair, and Steve Fijalkowski was selected as the Vice Chair.  

Mary Biggs, District FChair Biggs was elected to represent District F in 1996. She previously served as Chair in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and as Vice Chair in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Through her role as Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors, Biggs also serves as a member of the MBC Development Corporation, New River/Mt. Rogers Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Consortium Board, Road Viewers Board, Virginia’s First Regional Industrial Facility Authority, Virginia Tech/Montgomery Regional Airport Authority, and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity (WIOA) Act Consortium Board. Chair Biggs is also the Secretary/Treasurer for the Public Service Authority. In addition, she serves on the New River Valley Passenger Rail Station Authority, as Montgomery County's Legislative Liaison, a liaison to the Montgomery County Public School Board and the Chamber of Commerce, and serves as an alternate representative for the Western Virginia Regional Jail. 

Steve Fijalkowski, District CVice Chair Fijalkowski was initially elected represent District C in 2018. He previously served as Chair in 2020 and 2021. Through his role as Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors Fijalkowski serves as a liaison for the Chamber of Commerce and the Montgomery County Public School Board. He also serves as an alternate liaison on the New River Valley Regional Passenger Rail Authority and the Parks and Recreation Commission. Vice Chair Fijalkowski is also a representative on the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority; the New River Resource Authority; the Transportation Safety Commission; and the Western Virginia Regional Jail Authority.   He is also a member of the Public Service Authority and Road Viewers Board.
