School Zone Safety Program
Striving for Zero, Zero Crashes, Zero Injuries, Zero Endangered Lives
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce our new school zone safety plan for the Auburn Middle and High School, Belview Elementary School, Eastern Montgomery Elementary School, and Prices Fork Elementary School designated zones.
This program aims to prioritize the safety of our youngest residents at school while helping positively influence long term driving behavior across the county for the safety of all residents, regardless of where they are in our county.
LiDAR cameras have been installed at Auburn Middle and High School, Belview Elementary School, Eastern Montgomery Elementary School, and Prices Fork Elementary School zones. These cameras will detect individual vehicles speeding in the school. School
zones speeds will be enforced when school is in session, lights are flashing, and children are present on the school grounds.
Live enforcement begins after the 30-day warning period on Dec. 2, 2024, after the Thanksgiving school break. At this time, motorists that exceed the posted school zone speed limit at 10+ MPH will receive a citation in the mail. These citations are civil
in nature, carry a fine, but do not come with points against your license or insurance penalties.
