At the first meeting of 2025, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted in April DeMotts, District G, as chair and Steve Fijalkowski, District C, as vice chair for the year.
“It is an honor to serve as chair and work with my fellow supervisors to help our community in this capacity,” said DeMotts. “I value community engagement, collaboration and transparency and will continue to respectfully represent and support citizens, employees and the overall best interests of Montgomery County.”
DeMotts was elected to the Board of Supervisors in November 2015, with her first term beginning in 2016. She previously served as vice chair in 2018 and 2019.
Supervisor Mary Biggs, District F, made the motion to nominate DeMotts as the 2025 chair. Biggs served as chair most recently in 2024, but previously in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and as vice chair in 1999, 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
“I know April will do a wonderful job representing the citizens of Montgomery County as chair of the Board of Supervisors,” said Biggs. “Serving as chair is not an easy job by any means, but April has proven to have the necessary experience and skills to not only lead our Board members but to also serve our citizens in this role.”
