Volunteering at the Center
From dog walking and cat socialization to special events and animal transport, the Animal Care and Adoption Center has lots of fun and interesting ways for animal lovers to volunteer!
Don't have much experience? No problem, most of our volunteer opportunities require a brief orientation and provide all the training and information needed to get you started.
If you are interested in volunteering please fill out our volunteer application, and staff will be in touch.
If you have any questions, contact our Volunteer and Education Coordinator Lori Charett at charettl@montgomerycountyva.gov
Fostering Pets in Your Home
The Center's Foster Program asks community members to open their doors to our animals.
Fostering is one of the most important ways you can help the animals of the ACAC. Providing our animals shelter in your home helps keep them happier and
healthier, while they await adoption. By being a part of our foster team you can help us adopt your foster into the perfect family. You provide the love, we provide everything else!

Community Service (Court-ordered or attorney-recommended)
As space is available, the center will accept court-ordered or attorney-recommended community service participants to help with cleaning, landscaping maintenance, etc. Individuals with court-ordered or attorney-recommended community service will not have
contact with the animals and must complete an application to service. Email the completed form to Shelter Supervisor
Della Mills at millsdm@montgomerycountyva.gov.
