PRESS RELEASE FROM GARY CREED, VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
I have recently been diagnosed with the early onset of Alzheimer's disease. As you can imagine, this is a difficult and somewhat frightening diagnosis; however, over the next few months I will be receiving treatment, including experimental medications, for this condition. These treatments may require me to be absent from some of the Board of Supervisor meetings and, due to this, I feel the County and the citizens of Montgomery County would be better served if I step down immediately as Vice-Chair of the Board.
As to my continued service on the Board of Supervisors at large, it is my intent to reevaluate my situation in January 2017, which will allow me to determine the effectiveness of my medical treatment in the meantime. At that time, with the guidance of my family and my doctor, I will make the decision whether I should remain on the Board or step down. I ask for your prayers, your patience, and your understanding as I fight this disease as I have fought for my district and the citizens of Montgomery County over these past fifteen years. I would also ask that my privacy, and that of my family, be respected as we begin this journey. Thank you.
