Broomin' & Bloomin'
Citizens and social, civic and church groups are invited to participate in this annual litter pick-up event. Volunteers are needed to help clean up roadsides, parks, streams, school grounds and other public properties. Thanks to the volunteers who made Broomin' and Bloomin' such a success in 2018!
Why is Broomin' and Bloomin' so important?
Not only is it an excellent opportunity to protect our local environment, but it's also a way to promote community pride and goodwill and help ensure that Montgomery County will be sustainable for generations to come.
Every bag of trash collected makes a real difference! Volunteers pick up a ton--literally--of trash each year and have helped to clean hundreds of miles of land in the county.
Also, this event is a part of the public participation efforts of our local Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Programs in Montgomery County, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Virginia Tech.
