A request by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors (Agent: New River Valley Emergency Communications Regional Authority) for a Special Use Permit (SUP) on property owned by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors; to allow a 190 ft. telecommunications tower excusive of a five (5) ft lightening rod. The proposed tower will replace an existing 160 ft. telecommunications tower installed on the site in 2006. The property is located at 2080 Oilwell Road (St. Rt. 824), Blacksburg, and is located approximately 0.84 miles west of the intersection of Southwoods Drive and Oilwell Road. The property is further identified as Tax Map 066-A 55A (Parcel ID: 071091), 1.008 acres, zoned Agricultural (A-1) in the Price’s Fork Magisterial District. The property currently lies in an area designated as Residential Transition in the 2025 Comprehensive Plan.
